Recruitment
Mission Statement: The research mission of Reproductive Medicine and Infertility Associates (RMIA) is to conduct translational research in reproduction that incorporates scientific discovery with patient care to maximize pregnancy outcome in women wishing to conceive.
Overview: Clinical medical research at RMIA examines oocyte (egg) development in PCOS, a reproductive disorder of women characterized by anovulation, ovarian hyperandrogenism and insulin resistance from hyperinsulinemia and also examines how hormone interactions within the human follicle during IVF affects genetic markers of oocyte function. These clinical studies are complemented by additional basic science research using nonhuman primate models of reproduction, including the prenatally androgenized female rhesus monkey as a unique model for PCOS.
Patient Recruitment: All women entering the RMIA clinical practice can inquire about our clinical research opportunities by calling Nurse Study Coordinator at 651-222-6050. They will learn about possible risks and benefits of the studies; remuneration, when available; and additional aspects of the studies, as necessary. All studies are approved through Institution Review Board (IRB) review and a consent form will be completed prior to beginning any study.
