Sarah Baumgarten completed her undergraduate degree at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee and went on to complete her MD and PhD degrees at the University of Illinois at Chicago. She completed OB/GYN residency and Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility Fellowship at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN.

Professional Activities
Dr Baumgarten has focused years of effort toward progressing the fields of reproductive endocrinology and infertility while obtaining her PhD and conducting research throughout her training. She obtained several sources of research funding and has published in areas of basic science on hormones and ovarian cells, as well as clinical research in anxiety in IUI, frozen embryo transfer success, PCOS and pregnancy loss. She is a member of the Society of Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility (SREI), the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology (ABOG) and the American Society for Reproductive Medicine (ASRM). She joined RMIA in 2024.

Practice Interests
In vitro fertilization, LGBTQ+ family building, and third party reproduction, including working with patients using donor sperm, donor eggs, and gestational carriers.
Personal Interests
Sarah has a wife who is a nurse in women’s health, two children and two dogs. She enjoys walking with the family around the nearby trails, collecting mercury dimes, watching documentaries, collecting vintage t-shirts, and doing home improvement projects around the house.
